Dear Mr. Hubert,

Last Friday afternoon we had a delightful visitor to the museum; he was charming, rather quiet and very helpful.  He put on white gloves and helped me put accession numbers on artefacts. Together we explored some of the toys in our permanent collection. He then helped a visitor with our microfilm reader. We finished off the visit with a picture taking session on our “penny farthing” bicycle.  Flat Stanley was such a help that we would like to have him here again…

I have to confess, I had never heard of Flat Stanley. A visitor to the museum asked if she could take some pictures with him, she pulled out a paper doll and, quite frankly, I thought we had a real nut case on our hands. Fortunately, a volunteer, who also volunteers at the local library, informed that the story of Flat Stanley is delightful and how great the Flat Stanley project is.  I was convinced.  We had a great time taking pictures of Flat Stanley and making entries in his journal.

All of this activity got me wondering why other Flat Stan leys couldn’t come to the museum?  Flat Stanley could explore the collection. Help assign accession numbers. Maybe do some research? This is such a fun idea! I would really like to be involved in some way.
